I think its about time to start this years reports...:)

The first salmon reported came at the beginning May.
The first sea trout was caught on May 30th,a fish of 9lb.

This weekend was very quiet again for me,with no fish seen or touched. However a 7lb seatrout was caught on sat night.

The start of the main run should hopefully start to appear in the next couple of weeks..

Anyone else been out yet?

Genny water is keeping catches down at the moment....:(....but a few fish are starting to be caught when the levels are right...:)

I fished Friday pm in genny water, nothing showing but i managed one of about 3 1/2lb on the rap from the middle river.

Saturday saw the genny water cease and levels back down.I rang the power station to see if there were any plans to generate, and they said there were no plans to.:)

Anyway the water was spot on for night fishing and i two takes and a fresh sewin just over 3lb in the first hour. Then the water level shot up by 2ft again....(Bloody power station). So an early Finnish again..:(

Any one else fished yet???

Good water

Good water

Good flood water on Thursday(3ft on the gauge at glany bridge) gave ideal conditions for the spinner and worm anglers.:)
Seemed very quiet though with only one salmon caught that i know of.(His first ever salmon in his first year fishing the river!well done phil..)
I never saw or moved a single fish...

The lower Ystwyth produced quite a few schoolies and a few sewin to 3lb on Friday as it was fining down..:)

With river down to its bones and no genny water it was always going to be a struggle this weekend.I know of only one small grilse caught, but i did spot a couple of salmon in a run on the lower river.
Unless we get a proper flood its going to be one of the poorest years for salmon in recent years....:(

As i don't have any fishy pics... here's one of "Rheidol falls" situated above the power station...:)

i too fished on the weekend - all day saturday hoping for some water but none came. didn't see any fish but it was a really enjoyable day shooting from pool to pool and rediscovering the river i last fished in the early 90s. chucked a fly at the heads of a few pools and a couple of runs but all in vain!

I'm hopefully going down again for the last Friday,Saturday..:p

PS..Thanks SS for the comments and yes its always a pleasure to fish there...:)
