I hope admin doesn't mind me putting this up here... should hopefully be of interest to forum members.
Last year's festival was very popular and great fun for all of us involved. Thanks to the Westcountry Rivers Trust for getting on board to make the forthcoming 2011 event bigger and better still. The website details will be updated regularly with more information...
Watch this space! :)

David Pilkington (Senior instructor, The Arundell Arms, Lifton)

In addition to this, we are pleased to welcome Charles Jardine (Artist, instructor, angling author) who will be giving a casting demonstration in the hotel garden.

Throughout the day, the hotel tackle shop will be open alongside stands from the likes of Snowbee, with the latest rods and lines available to try before you buy.

While it is a case of 'more the merrier' please let us know if you are thinking of coming as it'll be helpful to let the chefs know how many there will be for lunch!!

By the way - there are one or two spaces available for fishing on the night of 2nd July as part of the festival (£28 per rod), but it is literally one or two.... the best email to get us on is fishingoffice@arundellarms.com.

Cheers for now

Tim

Great day yesterday (see above!), perfectly finished with a very entertaining casting demo by Charles Jardine. Will get round to a full report of the festival, but the story so far is that fishing is slow! A few fish have been landed, but the first two nights have seen clear skies and very cold temps indeed.
If anyone wants to fish as a non resident (£28 per night), please let us know by calling 01566 784666. Pretty full next weekend but we have limited places available on the weekdays.

Cheers for now

Tim

I attended the Gala Day - It started with Graeme Harris of 'Successful Sea Trout Angling' and ended about 7.00 pm with Charles Jardine showing us how to cast to those hard to reach corners. Fantastic day!

Fascinating stuff from the 'boffins'. Stongly recommend we all support the Celtic Sea Trout Project and the Atlantic Aquatic Resource Conservation by sending in our sea trout scales.

Did Pilks manage to nymph a sea trout on Sunday?
