I watched Turus a Bhradain [a salmons journey] on Alba last night. Loch Maree got mentioned, in it's heyday it produced 25,000 rod caught sea trout but now the yearly catch is below 100.

Most of us think the rivers we fish are having it bad but they're not as bad as Loch Maree.

I thought that they were on the up in Maree,

Salmon farms were the reason for the decline on Maree!!!!! No other reason

I'm just going by what was said about the numbers on the programme the other night and yes the salmon farms are the reason.

Rivers I once fished as a child were full of seatrout. These rivers were primarily salmon rivers but you always caught seatrout, unfortunatley now you hear of maybe one seen or caught every 2 or 3 years.

Sad, very very sad.
