I've never had a problem (so far) with airflo polys but I will certainly will give the rio a go also ??I no longer use poly's as I found the Airflo's to be particularly bad. Hated the way too big massive Loop on the back end of them. Hated the way that they suck water in between the inner core and outer sheath. Particularly hated the way that they didn't sink at their specified rate. I very respectfully recommend that you try the Rio trout Versileaders. 7ft long and as much as I don't like Rio products their leaders are very good indeed. They have a breaking strain of 14lbs. I have never broken one on a fish. Just make sure you don't go over 12lb on your tippet

Crazy that, will definitely give the rio ones a shout, hopefully a bit more water to test them oot properly for a few sessions ?The big loop always irritated me when I used to use them a lot. Other than that I never had a problem at that time either. One afternoon while out on the Corwen stretch of the River Dee in North Wales a mate of mine who had the identical Vision Catapult switch rod and Rio AFS 7 weight shooting head set that I was using was following me through a pool. My fly was swinging through. His fly was catching bottom. I took my fly and put it on his rod and line and took his rod off him. Cast it and I started catching bottom too. I was using an Airflo polyleader. He was using a Rio 6ft Versileader badged up as the same sink rate as mine. I took the Airflo's onto another instructors casting pool and we measured their sink rate or lack thereof. They were inconsistent with each other but none of them sank at their specified rate and this was of course not in flowing water.
Dead sorry to hijack your thread about your switch rod by the way

I had a test cast of a 6/7 Oracle at Foxons and thought it would be nice for the small sea trout in my neck of the woods. I ended up with a 7/8Oracle which I see as a light salmon rod.Looking forward to trying out the new LPXe 6/7 switch rod, hopefully hook something before the season is over, any of you lads like light switch rods? Or have used this particular one? Look the dogs danglies I must say can't wait to get it on the water ??View attachment 94132View attachment 94133View attachment 94134View attachment 94135

Thanks mate much appreciated ?Well done mate, always good to christen a new rod.?
Vision vibe 17gram, and to be quite honest It was really nice, the rod is very nice so pleased I got the 6/7 and not the 7/8, it's light and you can feel its light if that makes sense, just what I wanted, very nice switch from guideline finished to a very high standard. I fished doubles, sunrays, copper tubes and aluminium tubes no problem. It really suited the aluminium tubes and double and you could tell when it was at its limit.....very pleased ??Fantastic result ? what did you line the rod up with?
Lovely fish mate and I have to agree big cumbersome rods just ain't for me (unless absolutely needed of course) light switch is fantastic sport well done!!Had this one yesterday morning on the 7/8 T-Pac and boy what a laugh that was. I loved using the small switch rod for the first time on the Tyne this weekend. Such a pleasant way to fish. Excellent rod, and the fish went away with a spray as well, so all good.
Never used but will be a lovely rod, I have held one on the bank last year and I must say they are stunning to look at, will be fast and powerful but a reet fishing tool to be fair, not used any of those lines, have just purchased a gaelforce equalizer esss have a look on there website it's very good ?, the vibe is unbelievable also, it will be my surface lure line for turning over muddlers on the 10ft single hander ?Has anyone used the Hardy Demon Switch rod in #7/8?
Also, anyone tried the Rio Chucker, looks like a good option for fishing with 10' tips,............25' head with running line, 29g weight for the #7 weight.
The Vibe 85 line seems too light at 17g ?
