really nice looking flies there mate, i like flies tied short and sparse.
is that some sort of quill that the body's are made from?
i might try and knock some out myself.

Thanks

Cheers Si, she came from the Test and I've seen her mum and her mum's friends and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a record grayling to be had from there

P.S. you'll be pleased to hear the Poncy Pink Parachute did the trick too.

Cheers SB.

The 'quill' on the nymphs (and the PPP) is actually hair from a Peccary. Not easy to find, but Phil Holding at Flyting Boutique sometimes has some. I don't expect it makes a blind bit of difference as far as the fish are concerned but it's nice and easy to tie with and looks good IMO. Hook is a size 16 Skalka G with a 2.5mm tungsten bead. Collar is Argentinian Hare (again from Phil Holding) in a split thread and the tags are glow-brite floss.

The depth charge is Argentinian Hare in a split thread wound over an underbody of pearl mylar. Hook is a Partridge Czech Nymph size 12 (I think ) with a 3mm tungsten bead.

Maggots (work well on Grayling Society days if you fish a stretch after the bait guys :) )

A bit less maggot-like

They're very nicely dressed Neil, very nice indeed.. I would doubt any self respecting fish could refuse such an offering.. :D

In fact, I'd take em myself .....:p

Mmmmm.....Shell Pink UTC thread?

No need for too much else - just a hook with this wound on - Clear mono rib works - a lovely fly - The Welsh Team will be raging seeing this!

Where are you getting the bugbond from and have you purchased their torch?

I bought mine a while back direct from David Edwards via his website but you can also buy it from Toby at funky flytying and it looks like Sportfish are selling it too. I paid through the nose for one of the expensive UV torches that the forensics guys use but you can buy a much cheaper version now - also sold by Toby. Damn useful stuff - I repaired a number of Christmas decorations with it and have also used it to repair a chip in my Strat :)
