Hi All,

I'm heading down to the Fowey area next week and was planning to get a night's sea trout fishing in.

The Fowey and Camel are both very accessible; can someone please suggest good day ticket water to maximise my chances. I have mastered the art of casting ok at night, but not catching... a confidence booster is needed!

I might even try one night on each river if the conditions are conducive. How are things looking at the moment?

Many thanks in advance.

Try Bodmin anglers, you can check out their website here: - Temporary members - bodminanglers

there is some free fishing at Lostwithiel from below the town bridge, the bottom pool in the park is known as Peel corner, well worth a look if the tides are right.

Not local anymore so not sure how its fishing but with the moon dropping away, fishing should be good.

Liskeard and District also have water on the Fowey: - Liskeard & District Angling Club - Liskeard & District Angling Club

Good luck,

I'd go for Butterwell or Wainsford if they have space.

Bodmin anglers have a lot of water but a lot of it is overgrown and not the best for fly fishing especially if you don't know where you're going and only there a couple of nights.

Quick update, I fished the Fowey unsuccessfully in July. Saw a very large school in Lostwithiel but they had pushed on by the evening.

Am fishing Butterwell in a couple of days, fingers crossed!

No luck at Butterwell. The water was up but clear, there were fish there but not in huge numbers.

The new owners, who are excellent, warned us that things would be difficult given the water height and so it proved. 2 of us fished until half 2, we lost 3 fish and had a couple more hits.

Fun times, but starting to get disheartened.
