Well done on the salmon, the dark arts take some skill as well (y)
You are right, a lot of people think its just throw it in and hey presto fish on, its not.

Had to fish a few pools before I found some.
The cock fish was in about 9 ft of water with the sliding float .First few run through s I was to shallow then at the correct depth the float rocketed under.

Out after work and it all worked well.
Air was heavy and humid and fishing in thee rain was a relief.
Fish were 11,9,7, also lost 2 as well.

All kept in the water and released.
So an enjoyable few hours on the dark arts ??

They were in good condition to be fair, even saw a nice fresh double that must of come in off the tide that jumped in front of me and a smaller fresh grilse size to.

We only saw one fish jump today and that was a nice double at the end of the day.Covered it but nothing.
My bro-in-law had a nice 4 pounds cock fish to ,so a 200 mile trip to the Usk was ok ?now he got to go back 200 miles ?

The river went up twice today and dropped aswell, don't know where the rise was from.
