Down in a decent rain fed valley of South Wales, the river Neath. Many moons ago,the river woud produce fish in excess of 20;bs, runs & current conditions have seen a dramatic loss in such specimen fish, there are a few decent sized fish that still navigate the system sadly, not in the quantity of yesteryear. I wish it may still happen & prove me wrong.
Sadly not many rivers are a patch on how they used to be. Most are suffering.

I remember fishing the Neath in about 2000. Fishing on the pipe pool. There were hundreds of fish crashing about, including some monsters. You’d never believe there could be so many big fish in a pool. Couldn’t get a touch!

Not long home from an evening on the water. Just as the light disappeared I connected with what I thought was going to be a sea trout... how wrong I was. Earliest salmon I've ever caught. Hope you don't mind me posting this as it is the sea trout forum after all ?20141013_171540-1.jpg
