It's a pain in the **** not having easy access to water levels...there was some talk about a web cam last season, has this died a death?

someone knows what they are doing

someone knows what they are doing

Fished til 3.30am yesterday, long and hard. Did not see a fish and it was perfect weather conditions. Them only fish I did see was on the bank at about midnight, a bar of 12lb silver sewin caught by another angler. What am I doing wrong? Oh yes, that's it...............I'm fishing.

...same here...fished through the evening and not the slighest knock....and didn't even see or hear any fish at all......:(...compared with this time last year i'd had a couple of small sewin and some brownies but very strange this year...there is loads of algae about but its very quiet .....still, some heavy rain over the next week or so should freshen things up...i hope.

Anyone feeling the same? or is it only the lower stretches around Carmarthen and Whitemill which are quiet?

Keep your chin up mate! - just because you are not seeing them doesn't mean they are not there,I can assure you they are there and in quite good numbers.Theres been a good head of fish taken this last week or so!.

What's surprised me more than anything is the number of fish taken on floating lines and small flies fished over deep water ( might be worth a try! ) I normally like to fish big and deep at this time of the year but it is impossible to do so at the moment with the amount of algae in the water. It's also a great advantage to fish with a mate,or a couple of mates, and each vary the tactics with different lines, size of flies etc!,the chances are one of you will find the right method/fly for that particular night.

It's been mentioned loads of times.....They are unpredictable little buggers on times, try everything, even if it seems the wrong thing to do on that particular pool you are fishing - it may just pay off!.

Sound advice Daz and having witnessed it in action I learned a lot.
I will be trying to put it into practice tomorrow night so hope for the best.;)

There are some big tides this week so if we get some rain I think the whole system will be seeing fish.

wet and windy rhondda
there are fish in the lower river below abercothi, they where pushing through quickly until thursday but now seem to be slowing down as the water drops off, as the weeks progress bigger shoals will enter the river and the lower pools around carmarthen will start to fish.

Had a couple of hours on Sunday morning, "dawn worming" for only the 2nd time in 10 years! Did not see a fish, and struggled to get a take even the trout were quiet. Cold downstream wind did not help either. Anyway i've got some time over the bank holiday, so i will do some fishing.

Yep I have the distinct feeling I'm too far upstream at the moment as haven't seen or heard anything thus far but then I'm fishing all upstream of Llandeilo so perhaps my time is yet to come...

Still seeing the fish push through quite hard - spotted another couple of sewin at dusk last night creating huge wakes up some glides.

Certainly plenty of fish around, with most being of a very good stamp indeed. Did hear the mother of all fish jump last night; it was some 100yds away and still sounded massive!

Fished Friday night on Golden Grove, just below Llandeilo. Great night, relatively mild and some light drizzle to provide the overcast conditions. Ended up being the official photographer, which was a pleasure in itself.

Back on Golden Grove last night in pretty terrible conditions - it was freezing, can't of been far off freezing, and the moon was like a spotlight down the river. Did, however, manage a fish, which was very pleasing.

To be honest, no they weren't. Had mine last night around 11.30pm, I believe Daz' fish was quite late the other night? 1-2am perhaps?

Is the weed still a problem on the river? When I fished the lower a fortnight ago it made fishing the sunk fly very frustrating.

Sure is Tom :( check out the amount of crap hanging off the leader that's attached to my fish, and that was just when I brought it into the side to release it.

It's going to be a filthy flood when it finally arrives.
