My thoughts were the rugby wasn't good, but the refereeing was dire. If Lee Byrne deserved a yellow card so did several of the Irish for repeated offences in their own 22!

Looks like Sewinbasher was watching a different game to you as well stig. He had this to say, Scotland played the rugby in their game and probably deserved to win, England were again dire until the subs came on.a different game to me then Tote Both teams looked particularly clueless as to what to do with the ball. Scotland constantly pulling the scrum down and the ref' not penalising them for doing so. The only bit of decent play was when Johnnie went off and Flood came on and why oh why do they not have Foden in the starting line up. I wished I'd watched the Irish give the Welsh a drubbing
Agree with much of what you say and there may come a time soon if this fare continues to be served up when the stadiums are not filled. The Welsh rugby team were crap to say the least, for a bunch of guys that train together it looked as if they have never met.
They want to kick them out of the 5* Vale hotel where they probably eat and drink to their hearts content for free, drive around in golf carts when they feel like !
The training camp should be on Abertillery mountain in the cold where they can make some men of them.
If Gatland and Edwards go, it will because they cannot do any more with a team that wont pull their finger's out of their backside's.
They do not deserve the money they get payed.
At least the beer was good value in the pub.

Hi Tote,
no posts I can understand. i would say this years championship on the whole and generally is damn well boring!!
All bar the Scotland Wales game have been dull and uninspiring.
Maybe they need to put two weeks in between games again to give the teams a chance to iron out cock ups from weeks before and get injured players back.
Not usre if i will bother with any of the final games.
That would be the same hotel that the two recent Grand Slam sides stayed in!! It's got nothing to do with it at all. There's no way that any of the coaching side should go, please let's not play the Welsh "shoot yourself in the foot" game of "Sack the Coach" or to be more accurate "Hound the Coach Out"!The Welsh rugby team were crap to say the least, for a bunch of guys that train together it looked as if they have never met.

I agree the Welsh lineouts are over complicated but I don't think the problem is with the lifters. The over complicated calls make it very difficult to time both the jump and the throw and this is at least part of the reason for the lack of success. That is the coaches' fault and it should be looked at.You are right sewinbasher, but the coaching staff do have to take responsibility for certain key aspects of the game, our line out was a disgrace and with the tallest 2nd row around, there is no excuse for losing your own line out. It seemed to me that the line out was grossly over complicated that is the coaches fault. That said, the Irish line out jumpers were consistently higher taking their ball and ours leading me to think that our support lifters are not strong enogh to lift our jumpers. Having said that, the players should have had the brains to shorten the line out and get safe front ball. Only one team in this six nations, France, the rest are woeful to be honest and whilst I am disgusted by the poor performances Wales have put in, I still think they are better placed for the next world cup than Ireland, Scotland and most definately England, How Johnson can say that the performance against Scotland was an improvement I do not know!
I totally agree with all of the above and couldn't have put it better. I do think that Byrne (and AWJ) were silly doing what they did in attack rather than defence, as Eddie Butler said, in defence you could almost condone it but to do something that risks a yellow card, harsh or not, in a good attacking position is a different thing.Another very disappointing Wales performance. On the plus side I was actually quite surprised by quite how much ball the forwards won. The lineout, not for the first time, was a real problem for much of the game. Then you have to look at a high error count and simply not being clinical enough - same old story this year! Some good players missing who I think would make a diffreence, but the team should be playing a lot better. I felt the Byrne sin binning was harsh to say the least, which yet again cost Wales dearly. I think you will wait a long time to see another player binned in these circumstances. Consistency should be the watch word and I'm sure Byrne will be pretty mystified by the decision, especially in light of the number of warnings handed out in the Scotland v England game . But hey that's the rub of the green when things are not going well. The major difference in a nutshell between Ireland and Wales, lineout apart, was that one side clinically took their chances! I still have plenty of faith in the coaching team, a lot of the players and do not think they are so far away as a lot of people imagine from turning the corner.
As for the Scotland v England game, has anyone seen a more dire poor excuse for a rughy international in recent times. The game was completely devoid of creative talent and I'm sure the bookies were taking more money on the length of scrum time before it yet again collapsed, than the likelyhood of a try. Plenty of attritional effort by both sides but where was the class?
The standard in this years championship overall has been dire. France have performed reasonably well, but let's be honest, there have been plenty of French teams which make the current one look a pretty ordinary outfit. France obviously big favourites to win the Slam next weekend and deserve to by being the best of some very poor fair. To put this years Six Nations in perspective, I think New Zealand could easily put a squad together to currently beat all four home unions in a single weekend. Would anyone bet against this?
